Ten Things Lucius Malfoy for [livejournal.com profile] aleysiasnape:

One:

Lucius Malfoy understood from a very young age that he was expected to uphold his family's honour and that this meant concealing his feelings and not crying at his mother's funeral. All his cousins watched with equally dry faces except little Cissy Black, who was bawling her eyes out, her blue eyes shimmering with fat tears, and he saw the despair he felt reflected in her. It seemed terrible that the only person weeping in a sea of stoic faces was his four year-old second cousin who had only met his mother twice. Lucius wasn't permitted to weep himself, standing in his stiff mourning robes under the cold gaze of his father... but he knew as he took the young girl's hand that it just might be all right to comfort someone else.

I feel I need a burst of short creativity to kick me back to the writing-zone and get my plot bunnies breeding. So time for another round of those pesky ipod drabbles. Here are the rules for those who don't remember: (I think I originally stole this from [livejournal.com profile] zigsternenstaub) For this one I deliberately removed the songs I got last time from the shuffle list. I have to say, I got a pretty fun mix. It's so hard to churn out anything decent in the time allowed though, *sigh* (I just added links to versions of the songs available on youtube).

1. Pick a character, pairing, or fandom you like.
2. Put iTunes or equivalent media player on random.
3. For each song that plays, write something related to the theme you picked inspired by the song. You have only the time frame of the song: no planning beforehand: you start when it starts, and no lingering afterward; once the song is over, you stop writing. (No fair skipping songs either; you have to take what comes by chance!)
4. Do 5 of these, then post.

I really need to stop doing memes and do some more writing...

Favourite story:

I can't decide... ah - probably that later chapters of You Know Who? My Voldemort/Hermione story which reads like an opium dream in some places. Really loopy stuff. Like Voldemort recalling eating a bird's egg while possessing a snake. It's weird and made me like ophidian!Voldemort which writers often avoid, choosing to clean up his looks before anyone falls for him.

Best story:

For sheer sticking power I'd have to say Room with a View. It's badly written, with horrible characterization along with everything else but it's longer than anything else I've ever written and I still re-read it even though re-reading my own work makes me feel somewhat incestuous.

Most Underappreciated Story:

I'll give this one to - uh - probably Against Nature where (cannon-ish) Vader and the Emperor attend Senator Amidala's funeral. No sex involved! *gasp*

Most Fun Story:

Haha! Oh that'd have to be Quizzical which is a crazy story about Palpatine taking an internet quiz. Somewhat retarded (format challenged) fun, if you feel like a quick cackle.

Sexiest Story:

I'd say that would be my fem!slash fem!Beckett/fem!Jack and other assorted pieces of PWP somewhere over in [profile] cutler_beckett

Holy Crap, that's wrong, even for you:

Ahahaha! The oscar goes to Under the Covers - my Emperor Palpatine/male!OC cut-sex-scene from Alexis, requested by [livejournal.com profile] luminations . A story only for the very brave or diehard Palpatine obsessives.

Story that shifted my perceptions of a character:

Gosh, that's a hard one. Probably Paterfamilias - my pre-DH Abraxas Malfoy/Tom Riddle fanfiction. Developing Abraxas from a name into a chracter was really interesting. That story was also the first time I've ever written Draco Malfoy and it made me appreciate the Malfoy family more in general. All of my palpakin fanfictions have lead me to understand Anakin that little bit more too, though it has been a slow process.

Hardest Story to Do:

There is no doubt in my mind here - Child of Sah'ot - which is about a Palpatine clone in the post!Palpatine EU. I've had it in my head for years and I've rewritten the beginning about six times and am currently working on chapter three with all the velocity of a snail. Because it's my most precious story at the moment and the characterisation has to be utterly perfect - walking the line between nature in nurture. In some ways, the finished product can never equal the great saga that is his life in my head.

Biggest Disappointment:

Ouch - er - that would be Devarication. About Palpatine loosing his looks, etc... nothing about it feels right to me.

Most Revealing Story:

As in about me? All of them.

Story I Want Remembered:

Most definately Child of Sah'ot - see above - if I ever finish it. Although I have this horrible feeling that my legacy will always be Room with a View. lol.

Fic I Still Love Most:

I love them all and I hate them all. I can't say fairer than that.

The "You Should Write..." Meme!
my thread here

I'm really not sure this is a good idea, but all the cool kids are doing it... I really want to write but my muse has vanished into the wide black yonder. So - and I'm looking at  you[Bad username or unknown identity:     lumy12] ! - please don't just say, for example: "moar palpakin!" cos I just might just burst with frustration! There's nothing I would rather write, but I'm out of ideas. Give me something to work with, people! I also do HP and PotC for those not SW inclined. EDIT: oooh and I'll write I, Claudius fic!

Ansketil-Rose is addicted to Palpatine fanfiction, the Roman gens, aeoli, and black jellybeans.
Strengths: Cool, calm, considerate and too clever by half.
Weaknesses: See above.
Special Skills: Ansketil can describe a mean robe, play the violin and sing baroque opera at the same time, draw stuff, read latin and greek, and regurgitate most Gilbert and Sullivan songs at the drop of a hat.
Weapons: A silver-topped cane, her extra-large oxford dictionary, a bucket of cold water, and years of planning.
Abilities: Ansketil-Rose gives all your Sith Lords in play +1, +2 if any of them are wearing elaborate robes. Ansketil-Rose gains +1 health every time the card "Sithly Manipulation" is played by you or your opponent.

Taken from [personal profile] fialleril. I'd be interested to see what I come up with!

List 15 of your favorite characters from different fandoms, and ask people to spot patterns in your choices, and if they're so inclined, to draw conclusions about you based on the patterns they've spotted.

Well, people, do I have a "pattern"?

1. Palpatine [Star Wars] Hehe - you knew it was coming!
2. Lord Vetinari [Discworld]
3. Lord Beckett [Pirates of the Caribbean]
4. Chrestomanci aka Christopher Chant [Worlds of Chrestomanci]
5. Edmond Dantes [The Count of Monte Christo]
6. Severus Snape [Harry Potter]
7. Marcus Novius [Romanitas]
8. Tarod of Chaos [Time Master]
9.  Mr. Spock [Star Trek TOS]
10. Ban [Boudica] A character with better dark angst than Vader, who knew? I'm not joking. This guy is like Vader+Vorenus from HBO's Rome. Srsly! Actually, those two would work well together... and they both begin with 'V'... hmm...
11. Tiberius Claudius Drusus Nero Germanicus Caesar  [I, Claudius]
12. Lucius Malfoy [Harry Potter]
13. Grima Wormtogue [Lord of the Rings]
14. Julius Caesar [he SO counts as Asterix fandom!] NOTE: this is what I said when I was 6 at the "come as your favourite book character day". As you can see, nothing has changed since then.
15. Claude Frollo [Hunchback of Notre-Dame]

One True Pairing Ship: Anakin/Palpatine for the win.
Canon Ship: Lily/Snape
"If this happens I'll stab my eyes out with a spork" Ship: I'm remarkably resistant to self mutilation with a spork. No pairing is THAT bad. (but writing certainly can be!)
"You are one sick bastard" Ship: Wrinkly Emperor Palpatine with anyone is pretty gross but I love it.
"I dabble a little" Ship: Tom Ridde/Albus Dumbledore
"It's like a car crash" Ship: Ron Weasley/Lucius Malfoy
"Tickles my fancy but not sold just yet" Ship: Handmaidens/Palpatine
"Makes no canon sense but why the Hell not" Ship: Lord Voldemort/Luna Lovegood
"Everyone else loves it but I just don't feel it" Ship: Hermione/Ron
"When all is said and done" Ship: Conrad Tedesnic/Christopher Chant (Worlds of Chrestomanci)
