This is a weird incomplete story I posted on ff.net awhile back, but I'd like to have it here under my nose, so to speak, in order to force myself into finishing the thing so I'm posting it here too. I think this is what happens when you write in the Harry Potter fandom with your Palpakin hat on, really. The whole thing feels very... odd. And says quite a lot about my choice of subject matter, I think.
Title: Brilliant
Rating: PG-13
Characters: Albus Dumbledore, Tom Riddle
Warnings: Mild slash
Summary: Albus is surprised to see brilliant Tom Riddle working in a shop.
Author's Note: I laboured so hard on this one but have no idea how to finish it. suggestions would be helpful. When exactly did Albus Dumbledore and Tom Riddle sit down and have an argument about love and dark magic? Perhaps Albus knew Tom more intimately than he let on to Harry? And so, I present, APWBD/TMR – post-Hogwarts.
“So Voldemort went off to work at Borgin and Burke’s, and all the staff who had admired him said what a waste it was, a brilliant young wizard like that, working in a shop.”– ‘The Half-Blood Prince’, p. 405

( Tom Marvolo Riddle at nineteen was so beautiful it took Albus' breath away... )
